Wag West’s Pet Services
Peace of Mind
Wag West, a Del Mar pet care company that differentiates itself from competitors by using a smart phone app and GPS tracking for dog walking, is now in its second year of business. The GPS tracking app allows clients to see in real time when and where their dogs are being walked, requiring full accountability on the part of the dog walker, and providing 100% peace of mind for the owner.
Wag West’s pet care professionals are required to pass a police background check, be pet first aid certified, and be service oriented and reliable. “I hire staff who are able to bring something else to the table,” said Owner, Adam Zucker, “whether that may be a higher level of education, a dog training background, or pet medical experience.” Rachael Clark, a key professional at Wag West, not only holds a master’s degree from the University of Hawaii, but is also a certified dog trainer. “Clients love having their dogs walked by a trainer or vet tech,” said Zucker. “It adds tremendous value and credibility to a traditional walk.” New hires participate in a training program custom developed by Zucker in conjunction with an acclaimed corporate training manager. “The training may seem excessive to some, but it helps me sleep at night knowing all the animals are in good hands,” said Zucker. Technology, online scheduling and billing, and GPS tracking help Wag West keep track of clients, their pets, and staff. “I can’t be everywhere, so technology allows me to know exactly what’s going on with my business at any given moment,” Zucker added.
Technology and an experienced staff have enabled the company to grow over the past two years while maintaining a high level of personalized service. “We’ve really perfected our services over time, and we have not had to raise prices. We have an impeccable record of being on time, and we have never missed a scheduled walk. I am really proud of that accomplishment.” Wag West plans to expand in San Diego, and is forming a foundation called www.toysforpups.org.
“We live and breathe our job. It’s a lot of fun, and I want it to be that way for both the pets and the staff. However, there is no margin for error when it comes to caring for a living creature. We want every customer to know that we provide safe, personalized care and love for each and every animal 24/7.”
