The Perfect Fit

Native Californians Rob and Christine “Chris” Warner were happy to trade in their L.A. lifestyle for the small-town feel of Del Mar. From the kids’ local sports teams to beach and bluff walks, the Warner family has found the amenities, location, and lifestyle of Del Mar to be a perfect fit.

Today, Rob is a pediatrician at Coast Pediatrics and Chris is a nurse in Labor and Delivery at Scripps Memorial Hospital. “Our unique connections to the community are through the kids of the area – beginning with the newborn babies,” Rob said.

Their decision to move to Del Mar was based on their young family. “We were attracted to the small-town neighborhood feel of Del Mar when we came for a visit and decided to move and raise our family here,” Chris shared. Their son Jackson is 10, and daughter Andie is 7. Both are students at Del Mar Hills Elementary. “Both kids are learning to play the piano and are active in soccer, baseball, and softball teams,” Chris shared. Rob lends a hand whenever he can with the various sports’ teams and has coached many of the kids’ soccer teams.

Rob and Chris run half marathons, with their favorite race being the La Jolla Half Marathon every April. The kids join them for the shorter distances. “Now that our kids are able, they run 5K runs with us. They’ve done the Carmel Valley Fun Run the last two years.”
As a family, they also enjoy traveling. Rob and Chris are committed to providing diverse experiences for Jackson and Andie. “One way we do this is through travel – our vacation highlight so far was a trip to Alaska with a whale watching experience that we’ll never forget,” Rob said.

From local races to long-distance travel, the Warner family has settled into the Del Mar lifestyle. “There is a sense of community here that we didn’t have in Los Angeles.” Not only has this family taken advantage of all that Del Mar has to offer, they are also giving back to the community every day through their medical careers and community participation.
