Assemblymember Brian Maienschein and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) kicked off their fourth annual “Donation Drive for Animals,” a weeklong effort to help homeless animals in the San Diego area. This year’s drive, which will end on Saturday, Dec. 16, is expected to make an even greater impact because of the continued partnership with local Petco stores. Donations will benefit the San Diego Humane Society and PAWS San Diego.

“The annual donation drive is a great opportunity to help local homeless animals and promote adoption,” said Assemblymember Brian Maienschein. “I strongly encourage people to help animals in need of care and a new home.”

Members of the community are asked to help homeless animals in the San Diego area by donating any of the following items:

  • Blankets
  • Leashes
  • Collars
  • Cat/Kitten food
  • Dog/Puppy food
  • Cat litter
  • Flea and tick medicine

Items may be dropped off in bins at the following Petco locations in the San Diego region:

“The ASPCA is excited again to partner with Assemblymember Maienschein on this event and we are grateful for Petco’s commitment to the San Diego region helping pets find loving homes,” said Susan Lea Riggs, Senior Director of State Legislation-Western Region for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).  “Donations from this event will greatly assist the San Diego Humane Society and PAWS San Diego in their mission to provide support for companion animals throughout the region.”
