Champions for Health’s sixth annual Aces for Health fundraising golf and tennis tournament, held at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club in Solana Beach, raised more than $21,000 to benefit Project Access San Diego (PASD), which links physician volunteers with low-income uninsured people who need healthcare services and cannot afford specialty surgeries. Participants included healthcare professionals, physicians, and community members.

The tournament was immediately followed by the Health Heroes Awards, where dedicated physician volunteers were recognized for their service to under-insured San Diegans. This year’s honorees included: ophthalmologist Lawrence Cooper, M.D.; ophthalmologist and retina specialist Nikolas London, M.D.; and gynecologic oncologist Jo Marie Janco, M.D.
