The Del Sol Lions Club recently celebrated its eighth anniversary with a Mardi Gras-themed party at Fletcher Cove Community Center, complete with Cajun-style food and beads for everyone. Sharon Omahen, Executive Director of the Coastal Community Foundation, served as the keynote speaker. The highlight of the event was the club’s presentation of a $45,250 check to the nonprofit Freedom Dogs and a $1,300 check to the Blind Stokers Club.

Since 2010, the Del Sol Lions Club has raised $275,000, putting $236,000 of it back into the local community. Club members have also completed 190 service projects and accumulated over 9,300 volunteer hours. “The driving force of the Del Sol Lions is the people. We have many self-starters and leaders among us with passion and heart,” said Club President Brian Hall. “Acts of kindness are best demonstrated by actions and not words.” To learn more call Nichole Peterson at 951-543-6384 or visit
