DMUSD Names Teacher and Classified Employee of the Year
Del Mar Union School District (DMUSD) has named Jennifer Munoz, STEAM+ Science Specialist at Carmel Del Mar School (CDM), and Marco Guajardo from the district office as the 2017-2018 District-wide Teacher and Classified Employee of the Year, respectively.
Jennifer has been at CDM since 2012, creating excitement about science for students of all grade levels, and creating a classroom culture that encourages curiosity and empathy. She provides the CDM staff with valuable resources and keeps them up-to-date with information and training about the Next Generation Science Standards. She also voluntarily attends science conferences outside the district and recently helped the California Department of Education review the California Science Test Questions. Jennifer oversees lunch clubs for students including Zoo Crew and Green Team, and works with the art specialist to offer the Da Vinci Club. She encourages parents to get involved in science at CDM through Science Olympiad and Science Field Day. She also oversees and coaches several groups of students for both competitions.
Marco has been with DMUSD for four years. He constantly shares new ideas and seeks solutions to improve service to district employees. As the person responsible for coordinating district health benefits, Marco has spearheaded district-wide practices benefiting every employee, including free flu shots and health screenings.
