If there’s one thing that North County residents enjoy more than the beach, it’s the various cuisine, beverages, and sweet treats throughout San Diego. Here, we offer a taste of some local flavor.
FARE & FESTIVITY
In the spirit of this year’s San Diego County Fair theme, “How Sweet It Is!” food vendors offered especially creative and colorful treats for fair-goers, like cotton candy ice cream sandwiches and unicorn cupcakes. Longtime vendors continued to serve up old fair favorites, including corn dogs, giant turkey legs, curly fries, funnel cakes, kettle corn, and all things deep fried!
Save the date and don’t miss this year’s Taste of Del Mar on Sept. 6 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Taste samples from over 25 local restaurants and 15 “sip stops” while enjoying live music throughout Del Mar Village. Tickets are on sale now – get yours at www.visitdelmarvillage.com/tasteofdelmar2018.
ON THE MAP
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters recently opened its fourth location in Del Mar overlooking Torrey Pines Reserve and Los Peñasquitos Lagoon, in addition to existing shops in La Jolla, Little Italy, and Bay Park. They will serve Bird Rock’s core menu of coffee, espresso drinks, and light eats. If you’re craving something heartier, the Bird Rock patio is connected to Roberto’s patio next door, so you can easily grab a burrito to go!
