Solana Beach School District’s Skyline and Solana Pacific Elementary Schools were recently honored by the California Department of Education’s Distinguished Schools Program. The program replaces the California Gold Ribbon Schools Program after a three-year hiatus, and 287 schools were recognized statewide this year. Schools were assessed for excellence in teaching, learning, collaborating, and gains in academics and performance standards. Both schools were recognized at an awards ceremony in Anaheim in May.

The Solana Beach School District serves approximately 3,100 students in Solana Beach and surrounding communities with seven elementary school campuses and a Child Development Center. Through the district’s progressive curriculum, students participate in hands-on activities that are designed to maximize learning. For more information go to www.sbsd.k12.ca.us.
