Experience of a Lifetime Gala Raises $435,000
Approximately 370 guests attended Serving Seniors’ sixth annual Experience of a Lifetime Gala at the Del Mar Country Club in May. The “Stories for the Ages”-themed event featured a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, and a popular wine grab, raising $435,000 to support the organization’s programs and services.
“The San Diego community once again came together to not only raise critical funds, but also to shine a bright light on vulnerable seniors and the daily struggles they face,” said Serving Seniors President and CEO Paul Downey. “We are honored to continue to do the good work of this organization by touching more lives and providing more nutritious meals to the thousands of San Diego seniors in need.”
Serving Seniors is a nonprofit agency dedicated to helping seniors in poverty live healthy and fulfilling lives through comprehensive wraparound services including nutritious meals, affordable and transitional housing, supportive social services, healthcare, and enrichment. Nearly 5,000 low-income seniors rely on the organization’s services every year. Since its inception in 1970, Serving Seniors has served over 12 million meals, serving 2,600 meals a day at 10 congregate dining sites and via home delivery to homebound seniors across San Diego County.
